TO THE EKKLESIA

FOR THE LOVE OF THE WHOLE FAMILY OF GOD

Isaiah 1:18 Come now, and let us reason together,

saith the LORD: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.

The scripture calls us to be living sacrifices, to deny ourselves and take up our cross and follow Christ.  And because of these and many other scriptures , many Christians feel we are duty bound to accept abuse, injustice and not get involved when we see misconduct.  Others see it as a matter of mercy to accept mistakes by the leadership and wait for the day when they will see the error of their ways.

These concepts are definitely valid in a majority of situations in our daily lives when dealing with disagreements, mistakes and minor conflicts with other people.   However these scriptures can not be used to accommodate ongoing sin and corruption- and they WILL NOT protect the church from the effect of that sin which is division.

Mercy is a weighter matter of the law but justice comes before that.   We cannot be a Christian and turn a blind eye to the sufferings of others.  We as Christians have to get involved.

My goal here is not to use this forum to promote someone to gossip or act as a talebearer.  We do not need to include names to try and attack specific individuals.  But at the same time if we pretend these problems  don’t exist- WE protect the guilty and can and will bear sin and guilt because of it.  The scriptures say a lot about sins of omission.  If we know – or even hear of an injustice or a sin taking place- we HAVE to get involved.   Deut 17:4 Makes it clear if there is an evil taking place “and it is told you, and you hear of it, then you shall inquire diligently.”  And if it was true, the person who heard of it was directly responsible for make sure something was done!   Many other scriptures make it clear that if we have knowledge of a evil and we do nothing, we also will bear guilt.

Lev 5:1 ... he has seen or known of the matter—if he does not tell it, he bears guilt.

Lev 19:17 You shall not hate your brother in your heart, but you shall reason frankly with your neighbor, lest you incur sin because of him.

Proverbs 24:11-12 Deliver those who are being taken away to death, And those who are staggering to slaughter, Oh hold them back. If you say, "See, we did not know this," Does He not consider it who weighs the hearts? And does He not know it who keeps your soul? And will He not render to man according to his work?

Brethren, this forum should not be used for character assassination or to spread gossip.  We don’t need to mention specific names.   But the only way this system of binding and loosening in secrecy is going to change is if we share our stories, show how these are not isolated incidents and give your TESTIMONY on how this system has affected you.  Until we all fully understand how broken this system is it WILL NOT CHANGE.
